Dwell on Design New York City 2015

Manhattan’s largest design event, Dwell on Design returns to NYC this October
By Sarah Emily Gilbert
From October 2-4, the Skylight Clarkson Square in West SoHo will be overtaken by Dwell on Design New York, curated by the editors of Dwell magazine. With more than 35 onstage presentations, attendees have the opportunity to experience a summit-like discussion about architecture and design’s role in our modern world.
This year’s onstage programming will include “Reimagining a More Resilient New York,” “How Hurricane Sandy Changed Building,” and “Future Cities,” all under the Resiliency theme that reflects on the industry’s advancements and shortfalls in the 10 years since Hurricane Katrina and the three since Hurricane Sandy. Other discussions will focus on “Designing for A Good Night’s Sleep,” “3-D Printing and Intellectual Design,” “Design in the Digital Age; Branding and Social Media,” “Fostering Innovation,” “The Real Cost of Rip-offs,” “The New Meaning of Hospitality,” and “Smart vs. Safe Tech.”
The event will include talks by respected individuals in the design industry. Along with keynote speaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Paul Goldberger, architects Eric Owen Moss, Ilya Azaroff, Claire Weisz, Julie Torres, Chad Oppenheim, and designers Dror Benshetrit, Howard Elkus, and Taavo Somer, among others, will be presenting.
Dwell on Design NYC expects more than 5,000 visitors to explore 60,000 square feet of installations at Skylight Clarkson Square. Additional events during Dwell Design Week (running September 28 to October 4) are available on ny.dwellondesign.com.
