Experience one of the greatest astronomical moments of our lifetimes August 21

A total solar eclipse is passing over the nation on Monday, August 21, and unless you can see it in its immediate path, there's no better or safer way to experience it than at Liberty Science Center!

On that day, LSC's STEM team will be on hand to explain the cool celestial science behind the eclipse.

Looking directly at the sun is dangerous, but LSC educators will provide visitors with the necessary safety equipment, along with the unique insights to make this a truly memorable and safe experience.

They will have telescopes and sunspotters out on the lawn, plus a special scope with a camera and monitors for safely displaying the eclipse during its progression.

Their live science demos will include a solar eclipse model and explanation. LSC will share a live remote broadcast from Cadiz, Kentucky where the eclipse will be total (it will reach about 77% totality in New Jersey).

The fun will also include Sun Globe Racing in inflatable hamster balls, space crafts, such as sundials, eclipse art, and more. LSC's live science demos will include a solar eclipse model and explanation.

At the box office, guests can purchase tickets to a special 4:45 p.m. showing of the Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon Laser Show ($12 for adults, $10 for kids).

Experience the fun all day, starting at 10 am. The eclipse itself will start at 1:23 p.m., reaching maximum at 2:44 p.m., and end at 4 p.m.
