These party professionals can turn the seemingly craziest ideas into unforgettable events. Along with his team of experts, Eggsotic Events owner, Egil Matiss has created everything from a custom red carpet for the James A. Michener Art Museum to an oversized wall of live flowers for a wedding proposal at the Mondrian SoHo. They’ve strung hundreds of lights across a barn in Stockton, New Jersey for a rustic wedding and provided a Giant Eiffel Tower (their most popular prop rental) for countless events. Come the holiday season, Eggsotic Events’ creativity shines even brighter as they up the glitz and glam to create winter wonderlands. While only Eglis can design “The Dickens” bar for a holiday party, anyone can use his expert advice on decorating for the holidays. Here, he shares five tips for throwing a winter bash that rivals the North Pole.
Snow and Glitter
What is a winter holiday party without snowflakes? There are a variety of lightweight snowflake designs of various sizes on the market that look great suspended from above to create that wintry look. Some of these snowflakes are rigid and can be assembled together to create unique snowflake centerpieces. You can personalize the tablescape with elves, gnomes, fairies, and ornaments. Add another layer by spreading artificial snow, and remember: A touch of glitter works wonders. You will be spreading this sparkle for days.
Wintery Branches
Whether it’s a sit down dinner or a cocktail party, adding a centerpiece will add the detail you need. You can go floral and keep with your color pallet or have a themed focal point on every table. Bare branches can help keep the winter feel, but decorating them will add to the idea that there is still beauty in the cold weather months. Battery LED lights are a great way to add a starry look.
A Decorated Entrance
Whether the party is at your house or at an event space, a decorated entry way is the perfect way to introduce your guests to your theme. It’s the first thing people will see, and it can create the excitement before your guests join the festivities.
Lighting
Nothing kills a party more than fluorescent lights. Up lighting sets the mood and pulls the space together. Eggsotic Events offers specialty fixtures for rent or there are small can up lights readily available for purchase that can enhance decorative elements like trees, wreaths, and any other decor in smaller spaces. A gobo light pattern projection brings the theme home in a big way. Remember, if it’s not lit your guests won’t see it (which is a good thing sometimes).
Wow Factor
How about a light up ice bar in an igloo or glowing ice cocktail tables for a memorable event? Eggsotic Events has unique rentals that create an event of a lifetime. We even made a “Dicken’s Bar” for a larger event we spearheaded.
Be Realistic
The key to a successful event is being realistic about what you can and cannot accomplish your self. It is better to create fewer well-done elements than many with weaker results. Be creative, there are materials around that just need an inventive look to bring them to life. Have fun!
