Plate to Date: Café Select’s Linguine & Clams

If you’re looking for a relaxed, comfortable place to have food or drinks with your friends, Oliver Stumm’s Cafe Select is your go-to spot. Designed like an imaginary European train station cafeteria, Café Select combines the best of Stumm’s native Switzerland with New York City in both its food and decor. The casual chic atmosphere attracts young professionals working in nearby agencies who often become Café Select regulars.
Running the dining room and the beverage program is restaurant scene veteran Benoit Cornet, coming from venues such as Bouley, The Russian Tea Room, and the Blue Door in Miami Beach.
For this week’s “Plate to Date” we’re featuring Café Select’s Linguine with Manila Clams steamed with white wine, sun-dried tomatoes, guanciale, herbs, and a touch of garlic. The entree pairs well with their refreshing Hugo cocktail complete with elderflower, chamomile tea, prosecco, and mint. Whether you’re looking for an after-work cocktail or a delicious euro-inspired meal, this quaint café filled with delicate lights and candles is the perfect “selection.” For more of Café Select’s delicious offerings, check out their Instagram account: CAFÉ_SELECT_NYC.
