Friday, September 2

9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.: Dino Dig at Liberty Science Center, 222 Jersey City Blvd., Jersey City. Dig for dinos at this special, limited-engagement event.

10 a.m. to 7 p.m.: New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo Park, NY. Partake in 16th century rides, games, arts, crafts, food, music, and dance (through October 2).

3:30 p.m.: Meet and Greet with Paw Patrol Chase at The Big Playhouse, 316 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ (suitable for children ages 13 months to 6 years).

Saturday, September 3

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Start of Apple Picking Season at Demarest Farms, 244 Wierimus Road, Hillsdale, NJ. Demarest Orchards features more than 14 varieties of pick-your-own apples. Also, enjoy fresh pressed apple cider, cider donuts, and apple butter.

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Action Fun Farm at Heaven Hill Farm & Garden Center, 451 State Rt. 94, Vernon. Over 30 farm fun activities including corn maze, hay rides, ball arcades, and obstacle courses (through September 11).

10 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Intrepid Museum, The Star Trek Experience at Pier 86, W. 64th St. & 12th Ave. in New York City. Discover the amazing “trek” experience as you become a cadet at the Starlet Academy. Check out the overnights too (through October 31)!

Sunday, September 4

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Just what is a wolf? Answer these questions and more at the Wolf Woods exhibit at Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange, NJ. Several viewing stations allow visitors to watch the wolves in various natural settings.

10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Tour Philipsburg Manor, a historic site in Sleep Hollow, NY. Tour the 300-year old manor house, participate in hands-on 18th century activities, step into the working gristmill, and much more (tours depart Wednesday-Sunday through November 13).

7 p.m.: Tennis champion Rob Laver signs copies of his new book, Rob Laver: An Autobiography at Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood, NJ

Sunday, September 11

 10 a.m. to noon: Carpenter’s Loop Hike at Palisades State Park in Fort Lee, NJ. Guests should meet at the Ross Dock Picnic Area. The moderate-level hike is 4 miles in length and will be led by John Adriance.
