Whenever I’m feeling rushed in the morning, my house is left in shambles. Clothes are strewn across the bedroom floor, dishes remain on the counter, and the bed stays unmade. Our living space is often a direct reflection of how we’re feeling, and similarly, our surroundings can effect how we feel. This is one of the principles of Feng Shui, a Chinese system of laws for positioning objects in a way that attracts fluidity and harmony in a home. While it is not a quick fix for a chaotic day, a Feng Shui home sets the stage for a calmer and happier you.

Bergen County resident, Lois Kramer Perez left a career in the fashion industry to bring on the good vibes. In addition to leading meditations and performing hypnosis, Perez teaches Feng Shui techniques to those seeking revitalization. The intuitive practitioner, speaker, and educator offers in-home consultations to analyze people within their environments to achieve balanced spaces. Perhaps more importantly, Perez works to “Feng Shui people” through meditative clearing and other techniques that help clients align their thoughts and actions, along with their homes. Here, the local guru shares basic ways to Feng Shui your home and get energized.

Create Fabulous Firsts: What we see is what we become whether we are conscious of it or
not. We must Notice how we feel, and all our “Firsts” should be “Fabulous”

Love it or Lose it: Keep only those objects that make us feel good!

Be in Command: We must always have our back supported, with an easy view of what is coming. This allows the central nervous system to remain in a calm state, creating a secure feeling without distraction and ready to receive all opportunities awaiting us.

Create Movement & Flow: Movement should be effortless through our spaces. Placement of furniture & other objects should allow easy movement through openings, doorways and hallways.

Healthy Home Maintenance: Doors, windows & drawers should open easily without squeaking or sticking. Leaks, clogs & cracks should be repaired. Keep the toilet lid down when flushing. As it is said: “What goes up – must come down.” Contain that “up” flow inside the toilet.

Let the Sun Shine In: Allow natural light to flow into each space. Be mindful of overgrown shrubs & trees. Windows should be clean and clear.

Enjoy Fun & Frolic: Be Inspired, Feel Joy, Have Fun! It’s important to surround ourselves with inspiration. We must be ready to change it up when it all becomes too familiar and we need some new sparkle.

Be Ourselves With Purpose: Understanding who we are, embracing our true essence without judgment, we are free!

As we surround ourselves with our passions, surrounded by all that we love, everything is possible!
