Vegan Cinnamon Roll Bakery Opens in Westfield

By Taylor Smith

With over 20 unique frosting flavors and a variety of fresh and decadent toppings, Cinnaholic is not your average cinnamon roll dessert shop. As seen on ABC’s hit TV show Shark Tank, all of Cinnaholic’s products are made with 100 percent plant-based ingredients and are dairy and lactose free, egg free, and cholesterol free.

Now open at 18 Elm Street in Westfield, N.J., Cinnaholic offers coffee, design-your-own cinnamon rolls, bite-sized baby buns, cookies, brownies, and raw edible cookie dough. Corporate catering and party trays are also available.

The dream of a vegan cinnamon roll bakery was envisioned by co-founders Shannon and Florian Radke. The two bonded over their love of animals and passion for a plant-based diet. The couple opened their first Cinnaholic bakery in Berkeley, California, in 2010. In 2014, the pair appeared on Shark Tank, which ultimately ended with them accepting a $200,000 investment from Robert Herjavec.

The opening day for Cinnaholic in downtown Westfield was held on Friday, May 10, with $1 cinnamon rolls from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Using a franchise business model, the couple intends to expand Cinnaholic across the U.S. and Canada. The Westfield Cinnaholic is owned and operated by a former Wall Street banker and Hoboken resident Vikas Mattal.

While you don’t have to be vegan to enjoy a cinnamon roll from Cinnaholic, the Radke’s intention is that their cruelty-free, animal-loving lifestyle shines through.
